Why colors in logos are so important
Colors play a vital role in the design of a logo. However, if you thought colors
only had a role in making the logo look good, you will be surprised to know that
according to the ancient art of ‘Vaastu’, colors of a logo can also influence
prosperity of the organization! So if you are in the process of creating a new
logo, here are some major reasons why colors play an important role in the
creation of logos:
1) According to Vaastu, the deep blue color combined with touches of red, is
likely to bring prosperity to the company. Black is a strict no-no and shading
is also frowned upon. However, this does not mean that logos should only be blue
and red. All colors which are bright and represent the product line of the
company are considered to be usable when creating a logo. Dark colors which look
ominous and have a blackish base are suppose to attract negative vibes and thus
are not recommended for logos.
2) Colors add vibrancy to a logo. Imagine a regular black and white logo and
then imagine one which has a dash of color to it. It is quite likely that you
would cast your vote in favor of the colored one (we are assuming that you are
not one of those ‘arty’ people who love everything in black and white!). Color
manages to enhance the logo to a large extent and thus is critical in the
designing process. A well executed black and white logo is also appreciated
where the two colors black and white are used in a creative manner and not just
as fillers.
3) Colors of a logo tend to become the signature colors of a company. For
example if a company logo has red and white in it, it is likely that the
corporate communication is going to use red and white or complementing colors
every where. The colors of the logo help in deciding the color palette of the
company and thus it plays a much more important role than just providing
vibrancy to the logo. Many companies have the interior of the office done up in
their logo colors.
4) Unique colors of logos can help in quicker recall and thus better consumer
acceptance. Large organizations use corporate colors when doing any branding
activity and a logo might not even be in sight but the colors would manage to
convey the name of the company.
5) Logo colors are the cornerstone in branding. Just as a logo is important when
developing brand-related marketing collateral, the logo color gives the
designers a range of colors to use in all relevant material. Colors play a
pivotal role in branding and should be given importance when being selected for
a logo.
The importance of logo colors cannot be ignored so it is best that you start the
design process with the knowledge of what all the logo colors can be used for so
that you end up choosing the right combination.
